It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the Fate franchise. I mean, I’d better be, considering how much time and money I’ve dumped into Fate/Grand Order… But you guys can imagine how excited I was when they announced another show taking place in that beautiful Fate universe!
So how did that turn out?
Well… I enjoyed it. Obviously. Come on, it’s Fate, i’m basically gonna like it no matter what… Even if it strays away from the typical Fate formula. That’s right… It is indeed a Fate show, but with nary a grail war in sight. Instead, we follow Waver Velvet, one of the core characters from Fate/Zero, and what happened to him after the grail war ended and left him aimless, without a partner.

Honestly, it’s actually quite good. I loved this introductory episode, seeing how Waver dealt with the PTSD of the grail war, working to succeed his mentor’s legacy, and teach the next generation of mages. Of course, this includes PLENTY of appearances from various recurring characters in the series, and lots of nostalgia.
It’s nice to see things from the perspective of a subpar mage like Waver, working to fill a pair of shoes that are quite a bit too large for him. The characters are fun, and while the animation definitely isn’t Ufotable quality, I think i’ll give it a passing grade for what it needs to accomplish.

That’s about all I have to say, honestly. It’s an enjoyable show with some fun characters, that adds quite a bit of depth to the Fate universe, especially around the inner workings of the clock tower and various associated mages. Let me know what you guys think of the show so far down in the comments! Thank you all so much for reading, and i’ll see you guys again in the next post!
