Episode 5 gives us something a little different than we’ve gotten for the first 4 episodes of the series. Rather than focusing on adventuring and goblin slaying, we get a deeper look into the life of an adventurer, the workings of the adventurer’s guild, and some extra growth from many of the side characters in the show.
Goblin Slayer and company are still present during the episode, but they each take a backseat as the action bounces between several different viewpoints. The daily life of Guild Girl is a complex one, as she deals with the various eccentric adventurers, from administration to promotions, and advice. She’s definitely a force to be reckoned with, in her own right, and it was nice to see her get a little bit of spotlight here.
We also see a little more of the rookie duo we also saw during the second episode, the warrior and the justice priestess. Their adventures in the sewers, killing giant rats, are a far cry from glamorous, but definitely reminds me of the tense adventures against pitiful creatures as a 1st-level character in DnD.
It’s been a while since I read the Light Novels, but it seems to me like there’s been some story points skipped out on, here… like, I feel there were some more plot points before the summons by the Sword Maiden. Even so, i am still looking forward to where the show goes next, and hoping they continue to do the light novels justice.
That’s all I have to say about Goblin Slayer this week. There wasn’t a whole lot that happened, after all, but it was a nice episode, a welcome break from the brutality, so I appreciated it. Hopefully back to the action in the next one, though! But until then, thanks everyone for reading, and I hope to see you all in the next post!
