Every single episode, this show just keeps getting better… and Episode 5 was no different. Mai-san is back, and Sakuta is in hot water with her. But, he’s made a promise to Koga, and he needs to follow through on that as well. Thankfully, Mai seems to be pretty understanding.
Koga is quite the troublemaker, though. Her conceived views on friendship and relationships are kind of obsessive, and it leads me to believe there’s a lot more going on beneath that adorable exterior. And even though it seems like the problems have been resolved… I get the feeling we’re not out of the woods with Koga quite yet. She might be a bit jealous of Mai-san’s relationship with Sakuta, or at least that’s the vibe i’m getting.
Koga seems to thrive on hanging on to her “friendships” with various people, that honestly seem kind of fake. If you have to work that hard just to be friends with someone, is it actually friendship to begin with? I think her time spent with Sakuta has taught her what meaningful relationships really are, something she desperately craves, deep down in her soul.
Of course, we also get to see more of Sakuta. One thing that really stood out to me in this episode is how brutally honest he can be. Him telling Koga that he’s not sure he would have helped her out if she had been ugly, though she states he probably would, shows that he really is a pretty genuine person, even if he’s a bit depraved. And though some might look on him as a scumbag, as some honestly do, he’s also a person that sees things through to the end, and is willing to, quite literally, fight to defend someone else, even if it puts himself and his reputation at stake.
All-in-all, i’m loving this show. The interplay between the various side characters also helps it feel pretty real, there’s other lives going on behind the scenes of the main cast. It’s a great and heartfelt story so far, and I can’t wait to see more. Let me know you guys’ favorite scenes from this episode down int he comments, and I hope to see you all in the next post!
