Finally, finally the story is starting to get rolling. We’re learning a lot more about this world they live in, and about Goblin Slayer himself. Episode 3 brings us to a conflict of moral identities, as the adventurers meet with Goblin Slayer, discussing the growing conflict with the Demons, but quickly realizing that the fate of the world means little to him, as long as he can slay goblins.
That said, it’s not just Priestess and Guild Girl who seem to understand Goblin Slayer. The magic caster has a great discussion with Priestess, helping her sort through her conflicting feelings and understand her goals a little better.
It’s really nice to see Goblin Slayer meeting some new comrades, helping to break the loneliness that pervades the first two episodes. Priestess has already begin growing as well, proving herself far more capable and determined than you would expect at a glance. It’s also nice to see some cheerful, fun interactions, a light in the bleakness of this world they live in.
Of course, we also get a glimpse of what initially drew me to the series in the first place. The resemblance between this show and Dungeons and Dragons, a favorite game of mine, is very strong. I really like the idea that the gods are basically just playing a game of chance with the mortals on the earth, watching them from above as they roll the dice. It’s an interesting concept that’s still not fully explained in the Light Novels.
Anyways, for fear of going on for too long, i’ll cut myself off there. I hope that a lot of people are enjoying Goblin Slayer, but if you’re not, that’s ok too. There’s a decent lineup of good shows this season, so make sure you make the most of your time! Thank you everyone for reading, and i’ll see you all in the next post!
