Welcome back to Carne Village! it’s been quite a while since the series has made a visit to our favorite rural farming town, so it’s nice to finally get a return to where Momon’s time as an adventurer… and the legend of Ainz Ooal Gown, really began in this new world. Enri, Nphirea, that one adventurer chick, and a merry band of friendly goblins manage to really hit the stage for the first time in the series.
I can talk for hours about Overlord’s story, but I really want to highlight some of the more technical aspects of it first. The new OP is amazing. It’s really growing on me, I keep listening to it on Youtube, and honestly… I think it’s my favorite OP so far. The visuals have improved since Season 1 as well, and the show is looking better than ever.
Events from Season 1 are finally starting to catch up with us, as the removal of the Wise King of the Forest, also known as Hamusuke, has begun to disrupt the ecosystem of the forest. Nphirea and Enri, along with the rest of the villagers, are beginning to see the ripples of effect, as the other two rulers of the region, the Giant of the East, and the Demon Snake of the West, have allied against a new threat.
We know, however, that this new threat is pretty much directly caused by Ainz and the rest of the members of Nazarick as well… the wooden fortress they built in the forest using undead workmen, has disturbed the inhabitants of the forest, and they are not happy about it.
I really love this kind of writing, where events that happen early on in a story ripple down, and new developments evolve from those. The butterfly effect, I suppose you could call it.
I don’t want to spoil anything that happens this season, so i’m forcibly cutting myself off here. I hope everyone is enjoying Overlord Season 3 so far! Let me know what your favorite parts of these two episodes so far down in the comments, and i’ll see you all in the next post!!
