Here we’ve got another show this season rendered mostly in 3d, at least the character models, anyways. The premise of the story is that Ichiro Inuyashiki, a 58-year-old man who looks far older than his actual age. With a family that hates him, working a low-wage job, Ichiro is diagnosed with stomach cancer. Waiting to die, Ichiro spends some time out in a park with his dog… when suddenly, an alien spaceship emerges from a rift in space-time, landing right on top of him and a teenage boy. The aliens turn both of them into terminator-style cyborg superweapons, and leave without a trace. No, seriously.

This show blew me away, for several reasons, and i’m super excited to see more. First off, the OP. Man with a Mission, known for doing the OPs for shows like Log Horizon and Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans, have again made an incredible OP that is hype as all get-out. The general soundtrack itself is great, adding personality and flair to the interesting story.

This show is actually thoroughly unsettling, giving us two sides of one coin; showing us how two people can do very different things when granted incomparable power. The disparity between different viewpoints is interesting, not to mention frightening.

Usually when doing these first impressions, I will watch the first episode before writing my review, but with this one, I ended up watching all three currently released episodes one after another. It’s just that interesting. If you’re looking for something unique and different this Fall season, I highly recommend Inuyashiki.
