Ok guys, is it just me or did that opening track sound like the classic Star Wars theme for some reason? Seriously, for like 18 seconds it was just straight-up Star Wars theme song. Anyways, let’s get on to the topic i’ve been avoiding… the show itself. For me, personally, this first episode was nothing but a huge cringe-fest. It tosses us an enormous number of characters, giving us no explanation as to why the main character ended up in this world, or really anything else at all.
Visually, the show is quite pretty; it’s a shame the beautiful art is being put to use for a show with nothing else really going for it. I assume that, were I female, I might be enticed by the enormous number of hot guys the show throws at us, but that’s not the case. As it stands, what I see is a show with good art trying to cover up a horridly written plot, not bothering to even try to explain anything at all, and pandering to a very specific set of tastes.
All that isn’t even including how totally cringey several of the scenes were, especially that “licking” scene. It might end up being an interesting show for some, but it’s really not for me. I’m dropping this one faster than I would a venomous snake. If, like me, you’re looking for a show that is well-written, well-directed, has a good plot, etc. you probably should steer clear here, too.
I’m kind of enjoying this, but I agree the plot is kind of hopeless at this point and the characters only a little better. It is definitely the visual aspect and just the fact that events kind of roll along in a predictable manner that is mostly working here, kind of the same feeling I’m getting from Code Realise though I like that a little less. I mentioned in my review of episode 2, but if I was still a teenager I would be head over heels in love with this show. It is definitely appealing to that younger me.

Yeah, it’s totally pandering to that young teenage girl audience; as a 20-something male I’m not particularly inclined yo enjoy the show at all 😛
Visually it does look quite nice, though, especially those first few frames.
