Hey guys, sorry i’ve been so behind this season. My life has gone all the way to crazytown and back again, so I haven’t had much time to get really anything done. That being said, I won’t be doing episodic reviews of shows this season, however, I will be doing first and last impressions, as well as updates when I drop a show, or if a specific episode catches my eye. Please bear with me as I try to catch up with everything this season.
So far this season, i’ve seen some good stuff and some bad stuff, which i’ll be sorting into categories after i’ve accumulated some more watching time. For now, these are the shows i’m watching this season.
Black Clover (Episode 2): Black Clover has the beginnings of a great Shounen series; awesome art, and interesting story, decent characters and a world that I very much want to learn more about. I can’t say for sure if it will be amazing or a flop, but the beginnings look good.
Juni Taisen: Zodiac War (Episode 2): This show has amazing art and animation both. I’m interested to see how it chooses to handle its enormous cast, and if we will get fully fleshed out characters or not, by the end of things. It could be good, it could be awful, i;m not sure yet.
King’s Game (Episode 2): King’s Game currently feels like Another, but less good, to me. I’m keeping it on my radar for now, hoping it will improve somewhat, but if it doesn’t i’ll have no issue dropping it.
Konohana Kitan (Episode 2): Moe, moe, and more moe. I’ve been needing a show like this in my life and Konohana Kitan gave it to me. I probably won’t ditch it, unless things take a turn for the unbelievably horrid, but it seems like a solid, adorable moe show for now.
Urahara (Episode 1): While I was stoked for this show to come out when teasers were being released, the actual show doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The art is unique and pretty, but the story falls way flat, and the rest isn’t much better.
Sengoku Night Blood: This show has earned the honor of being my first drop of the season. It was cringeworthy through and through, with a first episode of ignored plot and excessive pandering, and a cast so unbelievably large I can’t imagine any scenario they could properly handle it in.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride (Episode 2): The Ancient Magus’ Bride is, in my opinion, the crowning jewel of this season, as far as i’ve seen it. Combining stunning visuals with interesting characters, a riveting story, an incredible soundtrack and a genuinely interesting take on magic itself, this show is already competing for a hard Best Show of the Year in my books, and it’s only just started releasing.
