It is now Day 46 of the 100 Day Anime Challenge. This question is a long one, and it’s got a bit different connotations, for different people. Guys: What is your favorite Shojou Anime? Girls: What is your favorite Shonen Anime? Now, i’m gonna level with you guys. I am a guy, yeah, and I absolutely love me some Shoujo Anime! I find that media that can move me to tears is absolutely worth watching, and I have enjoyed many of them over my life of watching Anime. However, the first Shoujo Anime I ever watched still remains one of my favorites.
Fruits Basket was already a relatively old show by the time I ended up watching it. To be fair, the only reason I watched it was that there was nothing else that looked even remotely interesting on wherever I watched Anime as a kid, I can’t even remember where I used to watch, but i’d already watched most of what I considered the good stuff. Fruits Basket was the first show I ever watched that didn’t contain lots of explosions, lasers, etc… And I loved it. The emotional tension and highly developed characters was something i’d never really experienced before, and it left me with a craving so hard that I am always looking for a good Romance or Drama to read or watch.
Honorable mentions go to Ouran High School Host Club, which followed very quickly after Fruits Basket, Love Live, for the existence of Nico, and Tari Tari, for being absolutely wonderful in every way, shape, and form. So, guys out there, what are some Shoujo shows that you like? Girls, what is your favorite Shonen Anime? Let me know down in the comments, and please come back tomorrow for more 100 Days of Anime!
Grats on getting 46 days into the challenge! Just recently finished “Kiss him, not me!”; not my favorite, but it was a blast to watch through with friends (who usually don’t watch anime). Keep at it! Only 54 more days to go!

I haven’t seen that one, unfortunately. Definitely seems like something that would be more fun to watch with a group of people, to laugh at the silliness of it.

Favourite shonen would be Bleach. Closely followed nowdays by My Hero Academia.

I will always remember Bleach for the first 2 or 3 seasons, when they had a clear goal and the story wasn’t escalated to utter ridiculousness (and filler seasons)

Definitely the first three seasons are the best. And, minus the filler, I kind of enjoy the rest of the story. Still, it really could use a reboot with less fluff and more focus.
