100 Days of Anime: Day 20

Day 20 is here already! that mean this challenge is already 1/5 complete. My my, how time does fly when you’re having fun. Todays question asks what anime character gets on my nerves the most, and boy do I have a great answer for you. I don’t think there is any character in any anime that gets on my nerves quite as much as (please don’t hurt me, people) a certain winged cat. That’s right, Happy, from Fairy Tail.

I’ve already mentioned my dislike for mascot characters in a previous post, but this is a great time for me to expand on why I don’t like them. Happy serves almost no purpose to the plot of Fairy Tail. His voice annoys me, all the stupid comments he makes annoy me, and honestly the story as a whole would be so much better, so much cleaner, without the existence of Happy and the whole Edoras arc in general. When a character never contributes anything to the story, they should just be removed. Happy doesn’t fight, he doesn’t ever do anything important, all he does is cling to Natsu and make me angry by his very existence.

Now, please understand, I am not an angry person. However, as an avid fan of anime, it really does upset me when one character ruins my enjoyment of an otherwise good show. Anyways, thanks everyone for reading. Please let me know what anime characters annoy you, and don’t bash me too hard! Thanks for reading, and i’ll see you all tomorrow!

  1. See, I felt that way about Vyrn in Granblue Fantasy. He contributed nothing, made stupid comments, and was just a waste of space on the screen.
I don’t mind Happy too much as occasionally he does something useful and I find some of his comments amusing. I still remember him describing to Lucy what Erza’s power was like and it was hilarious. Still, the show wouldn’t really suffer much from his removal which is a shame because a winged cat is an awesome concept. Terrifying for birds I’d imagine.
