Day 8 is here, and we’ve arrived at the question everyone loves to talks about: Favorite Anime Couple. Now, in so many anime, there seems to be almost a tradition of making the main character’s feelings so ambiguous that there ends up just being a bunch of ships, and no canon relationship. But when we do get to see a relationship in an anime, there are a few that stand out far above the others. The real question is, which of these outstanding couples do we pick?
I’m trying to avoid repeat mentions as much as I can with this series, so if I have a tie, and one of them has been mentioned previously, the other one wins. It was a choice between two couples, but since i’ve mentioned the Monogatari Series previously, I decided not to use Araragi x Senjougahara. So, for my favorite anime couple, we’ve got Ryuuji and Taiga, from Toradora.
Why are Ryuuji and Taiga such a great couple? Well first of all, they meet and become fast friends as allies under a similar cause, that being love. Taiga is in love with Ryuuji’s best friend, and Ryuuji is in love with Taiga’s best friend. Boom, allies. Ryuuji is tall while Taiga is short, Ryuuji is calm while Taiga is chaotic, Ryuuji is severe looking while Taiga is undoubtedly beautiful. Ryuuji means Dragon, Taiga means Tiger. They act as antitheses to each other, highlighting the good and bad points of each other as their friendship slowly grows.
Unlike so many shows, Toradora gives us a long, well-developed growth of their relationship, from strangers to friends to best friends to, eventually, lovers. Their relationship, their bonds, are so powerful, and so genuine, and after watching them for so long, we can’t help but be happy when they finally get together. If you haven’t seen Toradora yet, please go watch it. It’s fantastic.
Well, there we have it, my favorite anime couple. More honorable mentions go to Kai and Aki from Robotics;Notes and Rikka and Yuta from Love, Chuunibyo, and other Delusions. Who are some of your favorite anime couples? Please let me know down in the comments, and i’ll see you tomorrow!
