Katsudon and Pudding A-La-Mode. This episode gives us the story of the Lion beastman who always comes in for the Pork Cutlets. He was a raider, harassing many towns in the kingdom, before being captured and forced to be a gladiator in an arena, fighting various monsters. The night before his first battle, he encounters the door to Nekoya, where the current chef’s grandfather made him a Katsudon bowl to help him win his fight. He now comes in every week for a feast.
We learn a bit more about the world in this episode as well, both with the lion, and with a Half-elf girl who is the apprentice to the greatest mage in the empire. Turns out, she’s the one who helped the master write his menu, and comes in occasionally to try a variety of dishes, mainly sweets. She works as an inventor, and is currently trying to create a chilled box to store things such as to-go pudding, so she can eat it at a later date.
I still really want to know more and more about this fantasy world, I hope that after all our customers have been introduced, we can learn more about the world, because it seems like there’s a lot of untold story there. Still, this show has such nice visuals and music, I enjoy very much watching it every week.
Episodes air on Mondays, and are simulcast on Crunchyroll.
