Back again we are with another episode of Fate/Apocrypha. Man, I do enjoy the Type-Moon franchise ever so much. I was worried that Apocrypha was going to turn out to be like just one more Fate/Stay Night, but it actually feels reasonably fresh to me. With so many characters, 14 masters and 15 servants all-told, there’s scheming and intrigue aplenty, and i’m sure we’re going to see some epic battles in the near future.
Episode 2 gives us a better look at the Ruler servant, Jean D’arc, who i’m very excited to learn more about. We also see the entire lineup of the Yggdmillenia servants, and several of the opposing servants as well. I really like Mordred as a character, her spunky dynamic is so fresh and exciting after the cool and calm Saber we’ve gotten to know. Not only that, but her power is totally overwhelming, though her swordplay may not be as refined as that of most Sabers. But she’s adorable. Why are the priests of the church always so evil? Shiro’s already scheming against his comrades, and the battle’s barely even started!
As a side note, the dark undertone is actually starting to grow on me. I wasn’t sure if I liked it at first, but it’s not bad, I think. I’m very excited to see where this show is going, because the animation, the art, the music, the voice acting… everything is very quality. If you’re not currently watching this show, I highly suggest you find yourself a place to watch it, and add it to your lineup.
