Fate/Apocrypha is a new addition to the beloved Type/Moon franchise. I personally adore Fate, so I was extremely excited for Apocrypha to come out. Apocrypha seems to be taking a slightly darker tone compared to the rest of the Fate series, at least as far as the art is concerned. Though the animation is gorgeous, as expected of a Fate show, the dark art actually makes it kind of hard to see things, sometimes. Not sure if it was a good move, at this point, but I suppose we’ll have to see.
As is the case for most of the Fate franchise, Apocrypha takes place in an alternate timeline, where the Great Holy Grail was stolen from Fuyuki City after the 3rd holy grail war, meaning the events of Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night have never occurred. The family who stole the grail, the Yggdmillenia clan, proposes a sort of “team-based” holy grail war, each side gathering 7 heroic spirits for the battle.
I’m looking forward to where this show goes, and I really hope it’s as good as the rest of the franchise.
Fate/Apocrypha will be airing on Saturdays, it seems.
